Stockbridge American International School co-celebrates International Literacy Month with the world through a variety of activities for reading, writing, listening and speaking. These activities included: 1) Peer Reading (where older kids read to the Pre-Kindergarten students); 2) Book Swap (where kids found out about new books and exchanged a new book with their friends to read); 3) Read Aloud (means just that-reading aloud; when we read aloud to students, we engaged them in texts that they might not be able to read) 4) Mystery Reader (special guests who visited our school and different classrooms to read a story to students. Mystery Readers can be parents, grandparents, older siblings, or other relatives) and; 5) Book Character Day (where students live up to be their favorite storybook character and tell the class about it). On September 29th, our Literacy Month Culmination Day was a great success, with the support of the administration, parents, teachers, and students, the school was able to conduct different activities that not only gave meaning and purpose to the Literacy month celebration but also allowed every individual to understand and recognize the fundamental role and importance of literacy in their lives.
